Hi, welcome in our home.
Hi, we're Filotas, Eirini, and our little Daphne a family of three building a life, and a home, in Amsterdam West.
Our roots are Greek, where life moves slowly, meals linger, and beauty is found in the small things. We carried that with us here, into 86H the house we found in 2023, after months of searching and a few too many obstacles along the way. It wasn't perfect. It still isn't. But it was ours, and that was enough to start.
Since then, we've been turning it into a home, one project at a time: a new layout, a new kitchen, a new bathroom with floors, heating, and windows coming this fall, and the garden next spring. This blog, 86H_living, is where we share that process not just the finished rooms, but the in-between: the decisions, the mistakes we're glad we made, the pieces we fell in love with.
It's also where we share the rest of it friend dinners that run too late, music playing on a Sunday morning, the small rituals that make this house feel like ours. Beauty and joy aren't extras for us; they're the whole point.
Come back often. We're only getting started.
Our Approach to Home Decor
We're not designers. We're not professionals. We're just two people trying to do the best we can with the resources we have and figuring it out as we go.
We're maximalists at heart. We're drawn to unique objects, bold color, unexpected shapes the pieces that make you stop and look twice. Our philosophy is simple: objects exist to bring us joy and comfort in our own spaces. Constantly trying to match and coordinate everything doesn't always work, and honestly, we've stopped chasing that.
Creating something unique isn't about following instructions or recreating a Pinterest board. It's about aesthetics your own, specific point of view and trusting it enough to let it show.
